Put your résumé to work!

The Grammar Doctor specializes in collaboration on résumés, rather than using forms or templates. We can begin with your current résumé or write a new document from scratch, but you will always be fully represented in any résumé TGD writes.

If you feel that you just need a second set of eyes to look at your current résumé, critique-only is available as well.


The Process

The first thing I will ask of you is to see your current résumé (if you don't have a résumé, we do will a preliminary information-sharing interview). I will then rework that document in a way that makes sense to the reader and is aesthetically pleasing, in a format that works best for you, your background, and your goals. I will also include notes about the additional information I'll need to continue the process, so you'll begin to see the direction in which we'll be moving. All of this is done free of charge. 

When I send you this first, preliminary résumé, it will be accompanied by a contract and invoice letting you know exactly how much it will cost to craft your new marketing document. If you decide to work with The Grammar Doctor, you'll return the signed contract, make payment, and we'll forge ahead. If not, you will have some suggestions to continue with your job search on your own.

We will then schedule an hour of time, either on the phone or in person, so I have the opportunity to learn more about your career goals and past successes and achievements. You will not receive a paper questionnaire or any other forms, because The Grammar Doctor doesn't use forms. It is my belief that, if you wanted to use forms, you would get a book from the library and write your résumé yourself. Instead, by working with The Grammar Doctor, you are making an investment in your career. When you become my client, we will begin a relationship of collaboration in which I listen to you to craft a marketing document that fully represents you and sets you apart from the competition.

The process of designing a résumé takes anywhere from a couple of days to several weeks, depending on how quickly we are able to connect and pass drafts back and forth. Your quoted cost will include all drafts and any needed rewrites for 30 days after your completed résumé is delivered.


Sample Résumés
Due to the process that is involved when working with The Grammar Doctor on personal marketing documents, each résumé is unique and highlights each client's skills, accomplishments, and achievements. It is therefore challenging to share with you examples, as your résumé may look completely different from one previously designed. After our initial consultation about your résumé and career goals, I will present you with a first draft of your new résumé, so you can see how you'll look on paper, not your competition. At that point you can decide if you'd like to move forward.

Fees
Upon our initial consultation, you will be quoted an all-inclusive fee for résumé design. This fee will not increase, unless you add on additional services. All prices include electronic copies in ASCII, Word, and PDF.
Services may be tax deductible if you itemize your return; consult with the person who prepares your taxes.
